  1. Flowers for Algernon

Flowers for Algernon is about a mentally retarded adult who goes under experiments to enhance his brain function and IQ. I've only read a small portion of the book, but so far it is very interesting. The book is written in a form of a dairy, but he's writing them as "Progress Reports" for the doctors who conducted the experiment. Each progress report is written in his grammar, but with each report his grammar improves and his writing becomes more in depth. So far I enjoy the book, and look forward to reading more.

  2. The novel I'm reading currently is "Someone Like You" by Sarah Dessen. So far, it's not far fetched like some novels, so I really like it. It's realistic, you can picture something like this happening to you. It's not a love novel either, so that's refreshing. It's about two best friends, Halley and Scarlett. Halley is the quiet one and Scarlett is the girl who's more outgoing, everyone knows her. So, everything was going well in their little novel lives. Until Scarlett's boyfriend, Michael, dies in an accident and later finds out she's pregnant with his child. MTV has done a series of 16 year olds being pregnant (which I've never seen) but it's different when you read about it. It kind of pulls things into perspective that these kinds of things really do happen and not just on TV shows.

  3. "Clockwork Angel" is the book I am reading. I have just started it so I cannot say much about the book. I was reading the book "Gone" but it was not challenging enough for me.

  4. I am reading the book "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll. I'm currently at page 103. Though it has taken me three days to reach this point as the book is written in a very confusing way that causes one to stop reading after each page and think on what one has read. As the way it is written is enough to make one go mad, I can honestly say that there are very little thought provoking statements in the book I could use for a discussion.

  5. I'm on page 148/353. This book is about humans and their interaction with their environment. The World Without us is a book split into a lot of short stories that explores the world, before and after humans. Some of these stories are interesting, for example, this book explains how New York would start to erode the instant humans disappear. Other stories are boring, like when this book goes on about an ancient castle that hasn't been touched in years. Overall, I'm not enjoying this book and I'm going to have to force myself to finish this book.

  8. I'm am currently reading "To Cross A Line" by Karen Ray. I am on ch.17 pg.72, so far the main character Egon Katz has come to a halt on his way to escape nazi germany waiting for a man he is supposed to get help from. The story at this point seems a bit slow since it's been in the same scene since the last chapter, however it has been somewhat interesting reading about the struggles the main character has been having.

  10. "'Oncology.' I shake my head. 'But that's cancer.' I wait for Dr. Wayne to assure me it's only part of the physician's title, to explain that the blood lab and the cancer ward simply share a physical location, and nothing more. He doesn't." (p. 30)

The novel I'm reading is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. This specific passage is in the perspective of Kate's mother when she finds out in the past that Kate has cancer.

  11. Im reading the book A walk to remember "So what? You'll take a few days..." A sad smile crossed her face, and I knew right then what she was trying to tell me. Her eyes never left mine as she finally said the words that numbed my soul. " I'm dying Landon." This book is an amazing romance, it kind of reminds me of The fault in our stars.

  14. The book I am currently reading is "UGLIES" by Scott Westerfeld. There are 2 groups: One group is called the "uglies" and the other is called "pretties." These two girls name Tally and Peris are suppose to be best friends forever but Tally is on the uglies side and Peris is on the pretties. "So Tally grabs one of the masks to hide her ugly face. And here's a big neon sign that says "IRONY" because the mask she gets to hide her ugly face is a pig mask"

  16. I'm reading the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin but you all ready know that. I am on page 226 but my quote though is much more earlier in the book. My quote is on page 40 it is from Mr.Darcy talking towards Elizabeth. "The indirect boast; for you are really proud of your defects in writing, because you consider them a proceeding from a rapidity of thought and carelessness of execution, which, if not estimable, you think at least highly interesting. The power of doing anything with quickness is always prized much by possessor, and often without any attention to the imperfection of the performance." This may be a long quote but has way more depth in it making it a good thought processing challenge for me.
